Red bean Bbang 빡 buns 😁 with a twist

Herro, this recipe will make you feel like you are in Asia πŸ™‚ These buns can be found anywhere in Asia and Asian supermarkets. However, I decided to make fresh ones and it was worth it πŸ™‚

  • 200 grams all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 40 grams sugar
  • pinch ofΒ salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • 60 grams water
  • 20 grams milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Can of Sweetened red bean paste

First step is to make three holes in the flour to put in the yeast, salt and sugar. You then will cover up the holes with the flour.IMG_7845

Pour in the milk and water.IMG_7846

Then in goes the melted butter.

Lightly flour the surface and knead the dough for a tiring 30 minutes or till you think it is fully combined.

Until it becomes a smooth ball of dough. Then place in a warm place for 30 minutes to rise.IMG_7851

It has now doubled in size.IMG_7855

The pictures below will show you how to fold in a ball of red bean paste nicely. You just need to separate out the dough into even balls then press it down with your hand to form a pancake shape. Wrap the edges on the top of the red bean paste and make sure to twist so it will not be able to get out. Then turn it upside down and press again till it becomes a thicker pancake shape.IMG_7856IMG_7859

You can use scissors or a knife to cut the slits but I recommend scissors since it is easier.

Egg wash the top of the bread and you can choose to add some black sesame seeds too. Next, preheat the oven to 190 degrees then bake it for 15 minutes.IMG_7860

Final product, enjoy πŸ˜€IMG_7865
