Herro, this recipe will make you feel like you are in Asia 🙂 These buns can be found anywhere in Asia and Asian supermarkets. However, I decided to make fresh ones and it was worth it 🙂
- 200 grams all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 40 grams sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- 60 grams water
- 20 grams milk
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- Can of Sweetened red bean paste
Then in goes the melted butter.
Lightly flour the surface and knead the dough for a tiring 30 minutes or till you think it is fully combined.
The pictures below will show you how to fold in a ball of red bean paste nicely. You just need to separate out the dough into even balls then press it down with your hand to form a pancake shape. Wrap the edges on the top of the red bean paste and make sure to twist so it will not be able to get out. Then turn it upside down and press again till it becomes a thicker pancake shape.
You can use scissors or a knife to cut the slits but I recommend scissors since it is easier.
